Abstract and Contemporary Painting
Nancy MacNabb is an abstract and contemporary painter who brings emotion to canvas. Largely an abstract expressionist, Nancy readily describes herself as an emotional person, and from a place deeper than thought, she brings together colour, shape and line to express her inner world, as it forms spontaneously or in reaction to objects and events around her. Nancy works primarily in an intuitive fashion, quickly, spontaneously, lost in the image developing before her. While most of Nancy's painting is non-representative in style, there can appear in her images geometrics, figures, and semi-representative landscapes. Also illustrative of thought processes riding alongside her emotion, Nancy feels her best work conveys psychological, sociological, or even spiritual meaning through the medium of vivid colour and complexity of form.
Primarily self-taught, Nancy works with acrylic paint and water-based mixed media on canvas. She works out of her home studio in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Formerly a medical doctor, she feels painting is her true joy. Although her art is biographical, she is confident that viewers will find aspects of themselves and their worlds in her impactful images.
